Access Initiatives
Christ Church is keen to work with underrepresented schools and colleges from the maintained sector in order to raise academic aspirations, demystify life at Oxford, and encourage applications from bright students, whatever their school or background.
Our access programme is aimed at students in year 10 upwards, along with their teachers, careers advisors, parents and carers.
Events and activities include presentations in schools and colleges, informal visits to Christ Church, and the Pathways Programme (see below).
We are particularly keen to make contact with schools with little or no history of sending students to the University of Oxford.
Christ Church is pleased to be able to collaborate with other colleges in Oxford on the Pathways Programme.
The Oxford Pathways Programme is a series of free events for students in years 10-13 at state schools in the UK. These events provide information and advice to students who have the potential to achieve Oxford's entry requirements. If you have any questions about the programme, or would like to be added to our mailing list, please contact the Pathways Coordinators.
Oxford Taster Days (year 10)
These provide an introduction to Oxford life for groups of up to 10 year 10 students. The days involve a talk, college tour, chat with students, lunch, an academic session and a scavenger hunt. Remaining dates can be booked via the booking form.
Investigating Options Day (year 11)
This day focuses on post-16 choices, and gives students a chance to experience a taste of an Oxford seminar led by an academic. The next events will be in Autumn 2012, and bookings will open in July.
Study Days (year 12)
Open to students in their first year of A Levels or equivalent. Students spend a day participating in seminars in their chosen subject, led by academics.
Applications for Study Days are now closed, and will reopen in January 2013.
