Tutorial Posts

C H Stuart Studentship

The endowment of individual Tutorial posts is a key element in Christ Church’s development programme.

To protect and preserve standards of teaching in the University colleges increasingly have to take on more of the costs of posts which were previously jointly funded.

Christ Church started this process in 2007 with the aim of funding the Charles Stuart Official Studentship in Modern History through donations from a limited number of his former students who will form the CH Stuart Society. The society holds an annual dinner, involving a guest speaker.

The fund is not yet closed and thus there remains the opportunity for Old Members to join the Society.

The Classics Tutorial Fund

The endowment of individual Tutorial posts is a key element in Christ Church’s development programme.

The Honour School of Literae Humaniores is one of the oldest and most prestigious of Oxford undergraduate courses, and the subject has always been a strong one at Christ Church. The subject has flourished as a result of decades of commitment from outstanding tutors who are strongly committed to undergraduate teaching.

A general Endowment Fund is now needed to secure permanently a tutorial team which will continue to offer the best level of student fulfilment.

It is to sustain a long tradition of tutorial commitment, and to guarantee some of the key benefits associated with being a Member of the House that we now urge support for the Classics Tutorial Fund in recognition of the enormous contribution from tutors past and present over such a considerable period of time.

The Christopher Butler Tutorial Fund for English

The endowment of individual Tutorial posts is a key element in Christ Church’s development programme.

English at Christ Church has flourished as a result of decades of commitment from outstanding tutors with devoted attention to undergraduates.

However, a general endowment fund is now needed to secure permanently a tutorial team, which will continue to offer the best level of student fulfilment.

It is to sustain a long tradition of tutorial commitment, and to guarantee some of the key benefits associated with being a Member of the House that we now urge Members who read English to support the Christopher Butler Tutorial Fund in recognition of his enormous contribution over such a considerable period of time.

The Oppenheimer, Rice & Wright Tutorial Fund for PPE

The endowment of individual Tutorial posts is a key element in Christ Church’s development programme.

To protect and preserve standards of teaching in the University colleges increasingly have to take on more of the costs of posts which were previously jointly funded.

Old Members who read PPE are urged to support the House and their subject by contributing to an endowment fund that will sustain existing tutorial posts and introduce at least one Career Development Fellow to be allocated flexibly, as needed, between the three subjects.
