Who Are We?
The Friends of Christ Church Cathedral are concerned to foster and promote links between the cathedral and individuals, both from the Diocese of Oxford and other parts of the world. In consultation with the Cathedral Chapter, we have contributed to the maintenance and beautifying of this Church, which in turn has aided its life and witness.
What Do We Do?
Over the years the Friends have sponsored social events which bring them into close touch with each other and the Cathedral. These include a summer outing to other cathedrals, a summer party in the Hall and gardens of Christ Church and a Christmas party in the Hall. Click here to see our current programme.
How can you join?
Individuals can become Friends and agree to pay a minimum sub of £15pa. Joint membership (available to two people living at the same address) is £25pa. Life Membership is available at £250. Group membership is available to schools, organisations and PCCs at £20pa.

Sponsor a Chair
The Friends of Christ Church Cathedral have purchased 400 Howe chairs to replace the unstackable wooden chairs and uncomfortable and aged yellow plastic seats bought decades ago. We hope now to recover some of that cost by this campaign. YOU can make an important contribution to our Cathedral by sponsoring a chair.
Each chair – or more than one if you wish – may bear an aluminium plaque inscribed with the name requested by the sponsor. This could be your own name, the name of someone you wish to commemorate, the name of a church or parish, club, school, company, local authority or any similar organisation. The cost of naming a chair has been set, for this campaign, at £125 per chair. The actual cost of each chair was £171. If you would like to support the project but can only donate a small amount, this will be equally welcome. For more information download our SPONSOR A CHAIR leaflet, below.
