Charles was born in Conway, North Wales, the eldest son of the Reverend Canon Henry Charles Asgill Colvile and his wife Norah Eileen Devine.
He was educated at Marlborough and matriculated in 1935. He was a Scholar of Christ Church gaining his degree in 1938.
After going down he was an assistant master at Radley for a year, before joining the Royal Welch Fusiliers
He was a Lieutenant and a parachutist with the Special Forces when he was killed, accidentally, on March 9th 1942. His death is registered in the Chesterfield District.
He is buried in the Churchyard of St. Mary’s at Ripple near Tewkesbury where his father was the Rector.
His name is on the War Memorial at Ripple.
