The Cathedral could not run without help from its many volunteers. Below are listed the groups to which volunteers contribute. For further information please see Volunteering, in the menu on the left
Servers assist at Holy Communion and other special services.
Sidesmen (and women) welcome people to services and ensure that services run smoothly.
Stewards are given training so that they can lead groups and speak informatively about the Cathedral, its history and life.
Welcomers, as the name suggests, welcome visitors to the cathedral.
School guides give tours and presentations to visiting school groups. There is a requirement for experience working with children, and our volunteer school guides are all DBS checked.
There is a highly skilled team of embroiders who work in the Cathedral every Wednesday.
There is a dedicated and talented team of bellringers.
On Fridays our expert flower arrangers spend the morning creating displays.
The Cathedral Shop is incredibly busy in the summer and the volunteer helpers provide vital assistance.
