Academic Background
Originally from Vancouver, Canada, I have lived and/or studied in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. I finished a DPhil at Oxford in 2011 that looked at connections between the appeal to ordinary language in the work of Wittgenstein and Austin on the one hand, and continental philosophers such as Heidegger and Derrida on the other. I work on both sides of the analytic-continental divide in philosophy, and find that distinction to be rather unhelpful anyway. I lead a second life as a playwright, and my plays Tom's a-cold and Pork have both been produced in the UK.
