Studied for BSc and PhD in Chemistry at King's College, University fo London (1967-1973) Then came to Oxford as Departmental Demonstrator in the Dyson Perrines Laboratory (1973-1975) and Lecturer in Organic Chemistry at Christ Church (1973-75). ICI Fellow (1975-1977) and Research Lecturer at Chrict Church (1975-1979). Lecturer in Chemistry, Bedford College, University of London (subsequently Royal Holloway and Bedford New College) (1979-1991). Lecturer and then Senior Lecturer, School of Chemistry, University of Southampton (1991-present). Lecturer in Organic Chemistry, Christ Church (1980-present). Ordinary Student (1992-present).
