Academic Background
I gained my first degree at Cambridge University and my M.Phil and doctorate at Hertford College, Oxford. I held a Lectureship at Jesus College from 2002-2005, then a Research Fellowship and British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship at Keble College, Oxford between 2005 and 2009. I moved to Christ Church in 2010.
Undergraduate Teaching
I teach nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first century literature in English.
Research Interests
My major research interests are in the nineteenth century and I am currently working on a monograph about the idea of conscience in Victorian writing. Other research interests include the relationship between literature and emotion, and the medical humanities.
