Marriage at Christ Church

The Cathedral is a wonderful setting for a marriage service. If you are planning to marry and are interested in the possibility of having the ceremony at Christ Church, the following information is important. Marriages in the Cathedral can only take place with the permission of the Dean and Chapter. The guidelines they use in deciding whether marriages can take place are as follows:

Permission is normally given to members of the college within ten years of leaving, to current members of the college, college staff, cathedral and Cathedral School staff, to senior members and to the children of members of the Governing Body. Permission is normally given to regular members of the Cathedral congregation and to members of its Choirs and other groups. Marriages will not normally be conducted on Sundays, on the last two Saturdays in July, or Saturdays in August.
