The Modern Languages Society is open to all modern linguists at Christ Church. The society hosts various social events throughout the year. This includes informal meals at restaurants in Oxford, with a choice of French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Lebanese food and more. We organise regular foreign language film nights, also attended by students reading other subjects. The social calendar is flexible and we are able to hold additional events on request, such as talks or get-togethers based on any other innovative and interesting ideas our members may have. In the final term of each academic year, the Modern Languages Society hosts a black-tie meal for all modern linguists at Christ Church – tutors and students alike. The meal is a delightful way to celebrate the end the year. It offers the opportunity to wish good luck to the new graduates and those leaving for their year abroad, as well as the chance to spend time with peers and tutors outside of a tutorial setting. There is already a great camaraderie between modern linguists at Christ Church, and the Modern Languages Society simply aims to provide occasion for this to continue and develop.
