The Christ Church Association and EDOX invite you to a special Elizabethan dinner and drama on Saturday 21st September. The dinner will held alongside performances of William Gager’s Dido and Christopher Marlowe's Dido, Queen of Carthage.
Gager’s adaptation of the story was commissioned to celebrate the visit of the Polish Ambassador to Oxford in 1583. It was performed, with great ceremony, in Christ Church Hall. In 2013, Dido will once again be staged.
There will be a drinks reception from 6.30pm, followed by dinner promptly at 7.00pm. Gager's play will be performed at 7.40pm, with Marlowe's play following at 9.15pm, after the interval. The Buttery will be open after the plays.
Thanks to the sponsorship of the British Academy, the dinner and drama will be followed by a one day EDOX conference at Christ Church, entitled Performing Dido. For more information on the productions and the conference itself, please visit: http://edox.org.uk/projects/performing-dido/
