Raymond Chester was born in Croydon to Lt. Col. Richard Lluellyn (Durham Militia) and his wife Amy Hawkin. His grandfather was General Sir Richard Lluellyn.
He was up at Christ Church from 1903 to 1904.
His mother was widowed before 1891, and in 1899 married Francis William E Savage. Her name is given as next-of-kin on Raymond’s army card, living at Burchetts Green, Nr Maidenhead, Berkshire.
In 1911 he was living alone at 64 Chancery Lane, London.
He commenced Service on 5 December 1915, as a Private in the 1st London Regiment.
The London Gazette reported 10 Oct 1917, Temp. 2nd Lt. R. C. Lluellyn relinquishes his commission on account of ill health caused by wounds, and is granted the hon. rank of 2nd Lt.
At the time of his death, he was Captain of 7th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment.
His Estate amounted to £5408 16s 10d. Probate granted to Thomas Smith Curtis and Charles Frederick Booth gentlemen.
