Tom was the only child of Captain Arthur Gerard Miller and his wife Winifred Louie Tritton. They lived in Blackstone Grange, near Henfield, Sussex. He was educated at Eton and Matriculated in 1940.

He was gazetted to the 60th Rifles, K.R.R.C on 3 March 1941, and was a Lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion when he was killed in Tunisia on 17 March 1943.

He was Mentioned in Despatches.

He is commemorated on the Medjez-el-Bab Memorial, Face 27 and on The War Memorial at the parish church of St Peter, Woodmancote.
