He was the son of Ralph Alexander and Winifred Wilson. His father passed the Indian Civil Service examination in 1902. Ralph Patrick’s birth was registered at the British consulate in Florence.
With his mother and sister, Mary, he travelled 2nd class, to Bombay leaving England on 1 October 1915. [Further information has not been found about the Wilsons, other than they lived at 26 Wildwood Road, NW11. This is a road in Hampstead Garden Suburb bordering the Heath. On 1 October 1935 Winifred Wilson of that address, left London for India travelling 2nd class.]
Ralph Patrick was educated at the Dragon School, prior to Winchester, and Matriculated in 1930. He was a member of the University Greyhounds. He took a 4th in Classical Mods in 1932 and a 3rd in Jurisprudence in 1933. He was Called to the Bar of the Inner Temple in 1935 and worked for the National Council of Social Service.
He was serving as a Lieutenant in the Gordon Highlanders attached to the 2nd Battalion The London Scottish when he was killed, accidentally, at Warminster on 13 April 1942.
He is buried in Southampton (Hollybrook) Cemetery Sec. M. 12. Grave 78.
His mother died in 1944 and his father in 1948 aged 70.
