William was the only child of Geoffrey Clifford Tyndale and his wife Adelaide Citron. He was born in the Marylebone area of London in late 1922. His father was a barrister who became a leading divorce lawyer, acting as Consulting Editor of a standard work in the field, [Kee and Coles's 'Divorce Case Book' (London: Butterworth, 1950)].
In the 1930s, the Tyndales lived at 76 Kensington Church Street.
He Matriculated in 1941 and was up at Christ Church for a year.
He was serving as a rifleman with the 1st Battalion the London Irish Rifles when he was killed near Cassino on 24 March 1944.
He is buried in the Cassino War Cemetery Plot XI. J. 16
He is commemorated on the Memorial at the Inner Temple.
