 'Music, Poetry and Art'

This concert featured various performers from around Oxford, including Fatima Lahham playing Bach's Violin Sonata no. 6 on the recorder, and James Donaldson playing Sonata for Solo Cello by Ligeti. There was also poetry readings and music compositions inspired by the artwork in the gallery by Christ Church students.

 Ticket prices - £5 or £3 for students, and free for Christ Church Music Society members.


The Oxford Collision Ensemble is a performance platform for contemporary composers, facilitating the practical development of compositions through workshops and concerts with various instrumentalists. It is a space for the new and experimental, welcoming thought-provoking soundscapes. Their concert material incorporates creative uses of instrumentation and mixed-media performances. Framed by the exhibition milieu of the Christ Church Picture Gallery, their concern, the Gallery Collision, embodied the merging of sound and visual art through the innovative utterances of music and poetry striving to engage with the Gallery space. Composers and poets include Isabel Stoppani de Berrié, Nigel McBride, Anna Krause, Andrew Watts, Annemari Ferreira, Thomas Clucas and Luke Lewis with works ranging from formalist experiments.
