This exhibition explored Bolognese drawings from Christ Church’s own collection, among them Bartolommeo Passarotti, the Carracci, Guido Reni, Domenichino, Guercino and the only female Old Master in the Christ Church collection Elisabetta Sirani.

Jeff Clarke - Paintings, Drawings, Etchings

Christ Church Picture Gallery welcomed again an exhibition of works by the Oxford artist Jeff Clarke. His paintings, drawings and etchings focus predominantly on his recent still-life subjects, drawn from around his Oxford studio.

This exhibition presented a number of new still life drawings and paintings by local Oxford artist Malcolm Sparkes. All works on display were for sale. 

Multiple Masters: French prints after paintings, 1700 – 1900

For over two centuries, French printmakers specialised in the reproduction of paintings. This exhibition presented their varied interpretations through lithographs, etchings and photography as well as traditional engraving.

The Decorated Wall: Designs of 16th and 17th century Italian wall decorations

The exhibition brought together a group of Italian drawings from the 16th to the early 18th century showing the inventiveness of architectural wall decoration in late Renaissance and Baroque Italy. All works come from Christ Church’s own collection of drawings.

Leonardo and Milan: Drawings from the Guise Collection

9th August – 19th November 2006

Christ Church Picture Gallery’s collection of drawings was the collection of one man – General John Guise. Guise bequeathed his art collection to his former college in 1765.
