Gallery Tours and Other Services
Thomas Rowlandson (after John Nixon),
Due to essential fire prevention building work the Picture Gallery will have to remain closed to the public from Tuesday the 1st September to Friday the 11th September 2015. We are very sorry about this, but hope to be open over the weekend of the 5th/6th September. We will publish changes and updates on the progress of the building work on our website, facebook and twitter.
Weekly general tour
Every Monday at 2.30pm visitors can join an general tour of the collection and its history. The tour is free with the price of admission.
In order to avoid over-crowding and possible danger to the paintings on display, group visits are restricted to a maximum of 15 visitors per group and should be pre-booked. Please give at least one week's notice of your visit. Group leaders are free, but members of your party pay the standard admissions charge (£4 Adults & £2 Concessions).
Tours and seminars can be pre-booked and tailored to suit the interests of your party. A maximum of 15 people can take part in a tour at one time. Charges apply for these visits. For further details, please contact the Picture Gallery
An Opening at the Picture Gallery
Picture Gallery Hire
The Picture Gallery can be hired as a venue for private functions and drinks receptions. The juxtaposition of a prize-winning modern building with the Old Master paintings and drawings, makes the Gallery an interesting and intimate venue. The Picture Gallery can accommodate up to 90 people. More intimate gatherings with talks by Gallery staff can be tailored to the interests of the visitors.
Photographic requests for images in the collection (including the Christ Church collection of portraits) should be addressed to the Picture Gallery's Curatorial Assistant, who can also provide information about charges and reproduction rights.
The print room is open by appointment only. Visitors and scholars should indicate their specific interest in the drawings collection and should arrange their visits well in advance as access is limited and not always possible. Group visits to the Print Room can also be arranged but are restricted to a maximum of five people at one time.
