'Aspire' Mentoring Programme

Christ Church is pioneering a mentoring programme this year for students at non-selective maintained sector schools currently in their first year of sixth form study.  Through a programme of one-to-one mentoring via email and an overnight residential visit to Christ Church at the end of the summer term, the aim of the scheme is to offer direct and personalised information, advice and support to students as they make crucial decisions about their higher education options which, we hope, will culminate in the submission of an application to Oxford and other top flight institutions.  For further information, please click here.

Oxbridge Information Events

The Admissions Officer visits schools and colleges to give presentations, jointly with a colleague from Cambridge, on academic and social life at Oxford and Cambridge, the College system and application process.  The events are designed for students, teachers and careers advisors (and, in the case of evening events, parents).

We ask schools and colleges to work collaboratively, where possible, and encourage host institutions to open the event to others in their local area.  If you are interested in setting up an Information Event for your school or college, or would be interested in serving as a host venue for your local area, please contact the Admissions Officer.

Informal Visits

We are pleased to host informal visits at Christ Church for sixth formers throughout the year.  The events give students the opportunity to learn more about life at Oxford, our courses and the application process, as well as meet current students and tutors, and eat lunch in an Oxford college dining hall.

Subject ‘Taster’ Days

Christ Church regularly runs Subject ‘Taster’ Days for sixth formers in the maintained sector to give them the opportunity to find out more about the subject they are interested in studying at university.  The events allow students to engage critically with their subject as well as encourage them to work independently and prepare for their university applications.  We are particularly keen to work with promising students from groups that are currently under-represented at Oxford.

Details of forthcoming Taster Days will be listed on this page.

Admissions Workshops

Delivered in schools, the Admissions Workshops are designed for students at schools in the maintained sector who are in the process of making an application to the University of Oxford.  The workshop gives candidates detailed information about the application and interview process, as well as an opportunity to view a mock interview demonstration on DVD and try out their own interview skills.
