Food and drink have always been important at Christ Church. Much to the critical amusement of his enemies, Cardinal Wolsey ensured that the kitchen and the dining hall were the first buildings completed when he first began to build, in 1525, on the site of the old priory.
Soon after Christ Church was founded, the college was blessed, during the 1560s and 1570s, with a manciple with a passion for record-keeping. John Furnivall kept a detailed account of his purchases for the kitchen day in and day out.
The exhibition will be open in Christ Church Upper Library between

Monday-Friday: 9.00 am - 5.00 pm
