Bishop Richard Blesses Oils

The Bishop of Oxford, the Rt Revd Richard Harries, celebrated the Holy Week Eucharist for the Blessing of the Oils in the Cathedral on Tuesday 11th April. This was Bishop Richard's last Blessing of the Oils service as he retires in June. A thousand people came to the Cathedral for the celebration at which Clergy renew their ordination vows and Oils are blessed for the annointing of the baptised, the confirmed, the sick and the dying throughout the diocese. The service was followed by a lunch for hundreds of people in Christ Church's Great Hall.
