Petertide Ordination

Hundreds of people filled the Cathedral this morning to support the nine men and women being ordained as Deacons to serve across the Diocese of Oxford. Among those ordained by Bishop Colin Fletcher, the Bishop of Dorchester, was Joanna Colicutt McGrath, who has served here as a placement student over the last year. She will serve in the parish of Witney.

25 Years of Women

This weekend saw the return of over two hundred women members of the college for a celebration of the 25 years since Christ Church began to admit women. A whole range of events took place including a special celebration dinner and a special service in the cathedral which involved women members of the House from its different eras.

Summer Gaudy

The Summer Gaudy took place on Thursday June 29th. Christ Church members  who matriculated between 1954 and 1958 returned to the college and enjoyed a great programme of events, including Cathedral Evensong, an oration in the Upper Library by Dr Felicity James, and drinks on Tom Quad before a Gaudy Dinner.

Going Down

As Eighth Week draws to a close all those leaving Christ Church this term celebrated the end of their courses with the customary party at the Deanery on Thursday June 15th, with strawberries and cream of course! The weather was kind and the Deanery garden was bathed in late afternoon sun as tutors, graduates and undergraduates enjoyed the chance to meet without the need to discuss tutorials, deadlines or exam revision.

8's Week

Christ Church crews competing in '8's week celebrated on Saturday night after a week which despite rain and a few setbacks was a very great success for Christ Church rowing. The Men's 1st '8' ended the week up one place, at a very promising 4th in the 1st Division, and the Women's 1st '8' moved up two, to a fantastic best ever second place on the river, behind SEH. All our other crews put in great performances too.
