Handel Experience
Choristers of Christ Church Cathedral and Worcester College Choir joined forces on Saturday 11th October with former choristers, choir parents, governors, teachers and other friends for a Choral Workshop and concert of Handel's music in the Cathedral. The programme was organised jointly by the Christ Church Cathedral School Parents’ Association and the Christ Church Cathedral School Old Boys’ Association to raise money for the school

Dr Stephen Darlington, Organist and Master of Choristers, led the workshop, teaching two Handel Coronation Anthems (Zadok the Priest and The King Shall Rejoice) and the Foundling Hospital Anthem to the volunteers in the adult choir; the sub-organist Clive Driskill-Smith accompanied the anthems and played a Handel Organ concerto; solo parts were sung by the Headmaster, Martin Bruce, Hugo Janacek, lay clerk, and current choristers. Mike Brewer, OBE, Musical director of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain acted as compère for the evening. This was a lively and entertaining occasion, giving enormous pleasure to all who took part and to a large and enthusiastic audience. But more importantly it was an occasion for present and former members of the cathedral choir school to join forces with the Cathedral and College in celebrating Christ Church’s musical heritage and raising funds to support the school’s activities.
