Christ Church welcomes Lambeth Bishops

Twenty bishops came to Christ Church from all over the world this month, on their way to the Lambeth Conference.  In a special service in the Cathedral they heard the Bishop of Kimberley and Kuruman call them to face the future without fear: confidence in God's plans for the future was the surest foundation for the Anglican Communion.  To read more and to see pictures of the celebration.

Bishops from as far afield as Haiti and the Philippines, New Zealand and Canada, were invited to lunch in the Great Hall at Christ Church after the service, together with their friends from all corners of the Diocese of Oxford, who had been hosting them for a few days and sharing with them some of the stories of their churches. The Bishop of Oxford, the Right Reverend John Pritchard, presented them and their spouses with gifts - including a copy of one of his books. It was a happy occasion, and an auspicious prologue to the days of hard work and deepening friendship that lay ahead in Canterbury.
