Last week's Torpids saw grreat success for Christ Church's rowers and ended on Saturday February the 28th with the Men's 1st Torpid going head of the river, bumping Pembroke right by Christ Church Boat house in an excellent race. This was followed by a traditional boat burning ceremony down on the Broad Walk after Torpids Dinner, with the whole Boat Club jumping over the flames.
The Women's 2nd Torpid also did very well and earned blades. The Men's 2nd Torpid maintained their position in a highly competitive division, and the Men's 3rd Torpid bumped twice and rowed over twice. The Women's 1st Torpid bumped Oriel on Friday but, despite several hard fought attempts, were unable to knock St. Catz from the Headship and thus finished Torpids in 2nd place. We congratulate all who took part for their excellent performance.
