Local Schools share Christ Church's musical heritage

Many people associate Christ Church with an illustrious musical tradition and generations of accomplished Cathedral musicians. It may not be as well known, however, that every week during term-time, Christ Church shares its musical heritage with primary schools from around Oxford. Choristers and staff travel each Wednesday to teach songs to a wide number of school children, and each term they and their local community are invited back to Christ Church to perform in a concert.

This November, for the first time ever, the concert took place in the Great Hall rather than the Cathedral, making it a particularly special experience for all involved. The children of Radley, Wootton, Sunningwell and Church Cowley primary schools performed enthusiastically alongside 18 full-voiced cathedral choristers, under the varied direction of Anne Paul Jones (County Music Service), Sophie Biddell (Cathedral School), and Clive Driskill-Smith (Cathedral Sub-Organist).
