King James Bible Day

King James Bible Day. Image: KT BruceAlmost 200 children from 60 primary schools in the Diocese of Oxford came to Christ Church on Friday 14th October, having taken part in the Oxfordshire Illustrated Gospels Project organised by Colin Fletcher, the Bishop of Dorchester. They attended wokshops on Art, Drama, Story-telling and Music at St Aldates Church in the morning and then came to the Cathedral for a Celebration of the 400th Anniversary of the King James Bible in the afternoon where the four beautifully illustrated and handwritten Gospels produced by the schools were presented to the Cathedral. Each school was then given a facsimile of the Gospel to which they had contributed. The event was also attended by Ed Newell, the Sub Dean of Christ Church, and Tim Stevenson, the Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire.
