Candlemas Carols 2012

Christ Church Cathedral was filled with candle light on Sunday 29th of January as regular worshippers and many visitors came to celebrate Candlemas, with a feast of carols, readings and music for the festival which commemorates the Presentation of Christ in the Temple.

The service was sung by the Cathedral Choir, but we were delighted to welcome children, staff and parents from The Batt CE School in Witney, whose Upper Junior Choir also sang beautifully at the service, and whose children assisted with the procession of light.

The collection at the service was taken for the West Oxfordshire Vetka Association (WOVA), which supports families in an area of Belarus affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, and promotes sustainable development projects in the region.
