Cathedral staff changes

Revd John Paton, Precentor of Christ Church CathedralAfter ten years’ faithful service, our Precentor, the Revd John Paton, will be leaving Christ Church in July. He will preach and preside here for the last time at 11.00 on Sunday 2  July.

After the service there will be a reception which will give an opportunity both to bid farewell to John and to celebrate Canon Foot’s ordination to the diaconate.

Sarah Foot, who has been Regius Professor of Ecclesiastical History at Christ Church since 2007, will be ordained Deacon on Saturday 1st July in the Cathedral at 14.00.

All members of the congregation will be most welcome to attend the service, which is not ticketed; those who wish to come should arrive by 13.30. Sarah has been preparing for ordination at Ripon College, Cuddesdon, and has been on placement at St Andrew’s Headington. She will value your prayers as she continues with her training and placement.

In addition we look forward to welcoming three new members to the Cathedral team over the summer.

Izabela Hreska will begin a new role as Personal Assistant to the Registrar and Canons in early July; Neil McCleery will be working for a year as Succentor and Lay Assistant College Chaplain and Emily Essex will be joining us, again for a year, as Cathedral Assistant.  Both Emily and Neil have worked at Christ Church as assistant vergers and it will be very good to welcome them more permanently at the end of August.
