Pat Metcalfe-JonesThe Varsity Rugby Match is an annual rugby union fixture between Oxford and Cambridge, this year taking place on Thursday 7th December. The event has been running every year since 1872, with breaks for the two world wars, and since 1921 has been played at London’s Twickenham Stadium. Following last year’s match, the 135th in the fixture’s history, Oxford University RFC had 59 wines to Cambridge University RFC’s 62, and there have been 14 draws. The women’s rugby Varsity March was first played in 1988, and since 2015 has taken place at Twickenham on the same day as the men’s match. The OURFC women are currently leading with 19 victories over Cambridge’s 11.

Best of luck to both of the Christ Church students playing in this year’s Varsity matches, and to both of the Oxford teams.
