Elizabeth Piper

Freelance cataloguer

I have been working for both the Library and the Archives of Christ Church and I have a background in the Royal Air Force. This combination meant that when I discovered in the library the documents from the Second World War, I was fascinated. It also meant that I found myself in a position in which to catalogue them properly for the first time since their declassification. The Portal Papers are more than just numbers listed and much more than just the Bombing Policy documents, with many of the papers coming from Bletchley Park, personal letters from around the world, even Portal's logbook from the First World War.

My specialities include Twentieth Century war, and military and intelligence documents.
