Opening Times and Prices

Christ Church is both Oxford University's largest College and the Cathedral Church for the Anglican Diocese of Oxford.

Visitors are welcomed throughout the year to enjoy Christ Church's beauty and fascinating history.

However, please note that Christ Church is a working academic and religious institution and some areas, including the Hall and the Cathedral, may close, occasionally without notice. The Hall IS OFTEN CLOSED BETWEEN 11:45 AM AND 2:00PM. The Cathedral closes for choir practice every day at 4:45 p.m. From 1 May, last admission is at 4.15p.m.

The Hall and the Cathedral opening hours for the week Monday 20th July 2015 are detailed BELOW. This information is updated each Monday for the forthcoming week and may be amended from time to time. The Custodian at the gate will also be pleased to advise you about the best time to enjoy your visit to Christ Church.

The visitor entrance is through the large gate in Christ Church's Meadow Building. For more information about how to find us, choose Find Us from the menu on the left.

Oxford University and Alumni card holders from other Colleges may bring in 1 guest free of charge. This will be reviewed during the year and may be subject to change



Meadow Walks

Alice in Wonderland Meadow Walk

10, 24 July, 21 August, 4 September 2015 - 2pm

A leisurely circuit of Christ Church Meadow with local historian and author Mark J. Davies to highlight the all-important role of the River Thames in the creation of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - printed exactly 150 years ago, in June 1865 - and Through the Looking-Glass. Literary Meadow Walk

17 July, 14, 28 August 2015 - 2pm

With reference to a range of authors spanning more than four centuries – some little-known; some world-famous – the geographical and historical significance of this ‘river-rounded’ location will be explained by local historian and author, Mark J.
