Open Days, Events, and Important Dates

Open Days

We run Open Days for prospective applicants in July and September, coinciding with the University Open Days. There will be talks and lectures and the Tutor for Admissions, the Admissions Officer, the Access, Outreach and Schools Liaison Officer, subject tutors and undergraduates will be available to answer your questions. There is accommodation for students travelling from a distance and school groups. The days will include talks on the admissions process, demonstrations of mock interviews, subject tutor sessions, and guided tours of the college.

Travel costs for Open Days

We don’t want potential applicants to be put off by the cost of travel to attend our Christ Church Open Days. We may be able to offer financial support for reasonable travel expenses if you are enrolled for one of our Open Day sessions, you are a UK resident and attend or have attended a UK school, and you are experiencing financial hardship.

Please contact the Admissions Officer (admissions@chch.ox.ac.uk) by 12:00 noon three working days before the date of the Open Day. You should give a brief indication of why you need assistance and the details of the cost and type of travel; once you have secured agreement and provided your bank details you will be reimbursed after the Open Day.

We can provide support for travel within the UK by public transport by the cheapest reasonable route. For advice on travelling to Oxford see the general Oxford University page.

Visiting Christ Church

If you can't make our Open Days or other events, you are welcome look round the college throughout the year (college opening times can be found here). It's helpful to arrange this with us in advance (email admissions@chch.ox.ac.uk), particularly if you're bringing a big group. You should come to Tom Gate on St Aldate's, under the clock tower (detailed information is available on our Find Us page), and tell the staff on the gate that you are a prospective applicant.

Christ Church is located in the heart of Oxford. The main entrance is on St Aldates, under Tom Tower (OX1 1DP). It is a 15-20 minute walk from the railway station and a 10-15 minute walk from the bus station (see below). No parking is available in the College and driving is not recommended, Oxford has a Park and Ride scheme, which motorists are encouraged to use. We are happy to make special arrangements for the physically disabled, please do contact us before you commence your journey.
