Crankstart Society

The Crankstart Society is made up of recent graduates who give regularly to the House.

Every member graduating in the last 5 years is eligible and The Crankstart Society, (formerly "The Moritz Heyman Society"), receive special recognition on the donor roll and an invitation to an annual drinks event in London.

The Impact

This is a matching gift scheme. Any Member of the House who makes a pledge of a minimum of £5 per month within five years of leaving, will have its full value matched pound for pound by Sir Michael Moritz and Harriet Heyman. This means that gifts from our recent alumni are particularly important to Christ Church as they can have twice the impact. Members can choose to give to any aspect of the House, but by far the most popular choice is our Open Doors fund.

Our Open Doors programme funds a two tier approach to attracting and supporting the brightest students. Firstly, we work to demystify the application process and go out into communities to encourage talented students from areas with low progression to higher education or low income backgrounds to consider applying to Christ Church. Then we make sure that they have the financial support not only to take up an offer if they are made one, but to access the best educational experience that Christ Church can offer. We offer comprehensive financial aid packages to students in need and make living, eating, and working in the college community affordable for everybody. It is the gifts from alumni that make all of this possible, and we need to continue and expand this provision for our students.
