Tours and Groups

People have been visiting this medieval church for over 800 years, ever since local pilgrims came here to pray at the shrine of St Frideswide, the patron saint of Oxford. Today we welcome visitors from all over the world, and we hope that you will enjoy your visit. Cathedral Guides are on duty to help you during your visit.

Cathedral Tours and Groups concertina

Daily Tours

Free guided tours of the Cathedral are available on weekdays at 11am, 12noon, 2pm and 3pm. The tours, which last approximately 30 minutes, start from the main entrance of the Cathedral. The tours have been designed specifically for visitors who want to understand the history, architecture, purpose, and life of the Cathedral but are also working to a fairly tight schedule.

Guided Tours for Groups

Longer, more comprehensive, guided tours of the Cathedral are available on a pre-booked basis. You will learn more about the fascinating history of this extraordinary building from its origins as an Anglo-Saxon Church in the time of St Frideswide, its life as an Augustinian monastery in the Middle Ages, to its current status as College Chapel and Cathedral of the Diocese of Oxford.

These tours last approximately 1 hour but can be adapted to fit your schedule. For more details and to book a guided tour of the Cathedral for your group, please contact the Cathedral Visitor Officer, Miranda Hockliffe:
