From fitting in as a BAME student to a day in the life of an English and French student; from nightlife and free time to studying at Christ Church, current undergraduates Laura, Ama, Gianni, and Jack answered lots of questions from Christ Church offer holders on our @christchurchoxford Instagram story on Friday. The Q&A was really well received; we’ve already had over 1,000 views.
Laura spoke about adjusting to life at Oxford and pointed out that there is lots of welfare support available at the University and at Christ Church, including our “College Family” system. Before arrival, first-year students are all given “college parents” who are there to provide support and answer questions as well as being friendly faces in Freshers’ week. Ama talked about fitting in as a BAME student; she mentioned University societies like the African and Caribbean Society and Islamic Society. Gianni, a first year Medic, ran us through a day in the life of a Medicine student. Jack spoke about Oxford nightlife, including BOPs, which are whole college parties held in the Junior Common Room, as well as Christ Church travel grants.
We received lots more questions than we were expecting, so we are planning to hold another Q&A on Instagram in the next few months. If you have any questions for the next offer-holder Q&A, please direct message us on Instagram or email admissions@chch.ox.ac.uk.
If you are a prospective student and have any questions about student life at Christ Church, admissions, or academic life at Oxford, please email us at admissions@chch.ox.ac.uk.
Don’t worry if you missed it, you can still watch the Q&A on our Instagram story highlights. Follow us @christchurchoxford for updates and our next Q&A.
