USA Trip 2018

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent and very busy trip to the USA. We were delighted to meet up with over 200 of our Members and friends, hear their news and update them on the House.

Members of the Development and Alumni Office accompanied the Choir for part of their tour, with performances in New York, Chicago, Alexandria and Davidson. This tour was particularly special as it marks Stephen Darlington’s final year leading the world-renowned choir, and we received numerous donations to the Cathedral Music Trust as a way to honour this. The trip also coincided with the University's North America Alumni Weekend in San Francisco, where Michael Moritz (1973) featured in the Academic Programme (An Oxford Conversation).

The American Friends of Christ Church and the Development and Alumni team organised several House get togethers, dinners, and drinks for Members to meet or reconnect with each other. It was an excellent trip for reuniting old friends and making new ones.

We also had the chance to meet with many Members who wished to support the House, and chose to give to the tutorial system, student scholarships and bursaries, the burgeoning Computer Science programme led by Professor Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the refurbishment of Peck, the Library, the Boat Club, and so much more. If you missed us in the US, or did not get chance to make a gift, you can donate by visiting the American Friends Website.

We will be visiting the US again in October and hope to see even more of you then. Make sure you’ll hear about the trip by keeping your contact details up to date!
