Cathedral to hold Pilgrimage for saint

Christ Church Cathedral is inviting people from across the Diocese of Oxford to join in with a pilgrimage to mark St Frideswide Day on Saturday 19 October 2019

People are invited to walk to the Cathedral from all four points of the compass and all corners of the Diocese of Oxford, which covers the three counties of Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. There will be a range of guided walks of varying lengths, bringing pilgrims in to the city of Oxford and ending at Christ Church Cathedral on the Saturday afternoon. This includes a family route from Iffley Lock.

The Cathedral will be open for prayer and contemplation during the afternoon, and pilgrims will be invited to make use of a series of prayer stations around the building. Those who are less mobile are welcome to participate in the event by arriving at the Cathedral from 2pm by other means as appropriate.

The day includes the chance to eat tea in the Great Hall for a limited number of people. Tickets for this are offered on a first come, first served basis. Bookings need to be make via this link for the tea

The day ends with a short St Frideswide Pilgrimage Service, with the Bishop of Oxford. The Frideswide Consort will be singing at the service.
