The Global Study Awards are designed to support highly motivated, talented individuals who can actively demonstrate their potential to contribute to society through their studies, a strong commitment to developing their career, and their sincere interest in increasing intercultural understanding and exchange. The awards, which are available to prospective students in all countries worldwide, enable successful candidates to study abroad at a higher education institution. The maximum value of the award is £10,000, which can be put towards the cost of tuition fees. Lawrence Yu is one of only six winners from the 100,000 worldwide applications in 2016.

Speaking on receiving the award, Lawrence Yu said, ‘The word “University” in Chinese means “Great Learning”. Only by exposing ourselves to multiple cultures do we learn to appreciate a variety of values and identify our own positions in the world. The Global Study Awards opened another door to me to embrace diversity and promote mental health literacy worldwide’.

Congratulations to Lawrence Yu for this fantastic achievement!
