Christ Church pays tribute to HRH Duke of Edinburgh

The Christ Church community heard with great sadness the news this morning of the death of the Duke of Edinburgh. His death marks the end of a lifetime of service and he will be greatly missed by the people of this country and beyond.

The Sub Dean, Canon Richard Peers, said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family who are mourning the loss of a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather as well as a much-loved public figure.

"We will be remembering them all in our prayers in the Cathedral at Evensong tonight, and in the days to come."

Evensong will be live-streamed this evening (April 9) at 6pm. You can find the order of service here. There will also be a Requiem Mass at 1pm tomorrow (April 10). A limited number of tickets for this service will be available and must be booked via Eventbrite.

The Cathedral will also be open to the public from 10am till 4pm tomorrow (April 10) for private prayer and reflection. Everyone is welcome.

In order to keep Christ Church Covid-secure, we ask that you wear a face mask, maintain social distancing, and follow the instructions of our custodians upon arrival. Access to the Cathedral will be through the College’s main entrance on St Aldates.
