Dr Patricia Lockwood wins ESCAN 2018 Young Scientist Award

Dr Patricia LockwoodCongratulations to Dr Patricia Lockwood, Junior Research Fellow in Psychology at Christ Church, who has won the 2018 Young Scientist Award presented by the European Society for Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience (ESCAN).

The award honours the early achievements of scientists working in the area of Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience and is meant to ‘encourage the further ascendance of a research star’. To win the award, scientific excellence should be represented in high-impact publications. The award includes a 1000 euro prize and also provides resources to fund travel to the annual ESCAN meeting, where winners are expected to present their research.

Dr Lockwood is one of the two winners of this year’s prize. She studied psychology and philosophy at the University of Bristol before completing her PhD at University College London. She is now a Junior Research Fellow at Christ Church, and Medical Research Council Fellow at the University of Oxford and the University of Zurich. Her work focuses on social learning and decision-making, and how these processes are related to individual differences in health, disease and ageing.

The European Society for Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience aims to promote scientific enquiry within the field of human cognitive, affective and social neuroscience, particularly with respect to collaboration and exchange of information between researchers in different European countries through scientific meetings, workshops, summer schools, and other such activities.
