Chrism Eucharist held at Christ Church

On Maundy Thursday, 29 March, ministers gathered from across the diocese for the annual Chrism Eucharist, at which the oils for use in sacramental ministry are blessed by the Bishop. This service is also an opportunity for the clergy of the diocese to renew their ministerial vows. To listen to the sermon, given by Andrew Proud, Bishop of Reading, visit our sermons page: Lent & Easter 2018.

Christ Church was delighted, as ever, to host this service and it was wonderful to see so many people from all over the diocese coming together to share in worship. The Chrism Eucharist takes place in Holy Week, the time in which we remember particularly Jesus’s passion and resurrection, and we hope that as people return to their home churches they will do so feeling renewed and strengthened.
