Christ Church Student Societies

There are a number of different student societies at Christ Church, to cater for all sorts of interests; some of these are listed below, with links to their own sites.

If you wish to set up a new society, you must seek permission from the Junior Censor.

Christ Church Music Society

Christ Church Music Society (CCMS) represents one of Oxford's biggest and busiest music scenes in the university. Entirely student-run, they oversee an astonishing variety of recitals, concerts and other musical events - boasting one of the city's finest acoustics with the stunning Christ Church Cathedral - and are dedicated to doing their best in giving everyone both in and out of college a chance to perform. Find out more by emailing them at and view the CCMS Michaelmas 2019 Term Card for details of concerts and recitals.

Christ Church Sports

The Christ Church Sports Ground is among the best in the University with excellent pitches. It is a short distance from the College on Iffley Road. 

Many different sports are catered for either at Christ Church or through University facilities: badminton, basketball, cricket, cross-country, football, hockey, netball, pool, rowing, rugby, squash, table football, tennis and real tennis are only some of the options available to all students. 

Everyone is welcome to participate at a level that suits his or her abilities. There are various intercollegiate competitions and you can get involved even if you are more enthusiastic than highly skilled or experienced!!

The Christ Church Sportsground

Our Sportsground on Iffley Road has the following facilities:

Two football pitches - available in Michaelmas and Hilary Terms

Two rugby pitches  - available in Michaelmas and Hilary Terms

A cricket pitch and new artificial cricket nets, available in Trinity Term

Eleven grass Tennis courts - available in Trinity Term.

Floodlit artificial fast tennis court and Multi-User Games Area (MUGA; tennis, five aside football, netball, basketball, hockey)

Other Facilities

Christ Church has two excellent Squash courts inside St Aldates Quad, which can be booked online.

Christ Church students can also currently enjoy free membership of the Iffley Road Pulse Gym and Rosenblatt Swimming Pool - just take along your university card to register. Please note that the power-lifting club room requires separate membership, which is available to Chrich Church students at a small additional cost.

All enquiries and requests for support should be directed (ideally via the JCR Sports Rep) to the Senior Treasurer of Amalgamated Clubs (Professor Jason Davis - by the relevant team captains.
