Christ Church girls' netball team win cuppers

The Christ Church team beats a strong Pembroke side in extra time to win cuppas.

On Sunday 14 May, Christ Church girls' netball team played, and won, all of their pool matches against St John's, Queens, Worcester and Teddy Hall. The following Wednesday, they played Keble in the semi-final, securing a 13–1 win to the final.

The final itself was a tense game, as Pembroke played with six university netball players who regularly train together, and Christ Church played straight after their intense semi-final. The Aldates Derby began with a Pembroke lead of 4–2 at the end of the first quarter.

By half time, it was 8-4 to Pembroke. However, Christ Church began to bring it back, as the Pembroke lead at the end of the third quarter narrowed to 12–9. After that, Christ Church went from strength to strength, and in the final quarter the score levelled at 15–15.

As a result, the game went to extra time. In that extra two minutes, The House dominated, scoring five to Pembroke's one goal, in an incredible turnaround and display of determination from every member of the team. The Christ Church attack, defence and mid court gameplay was magnificent, and they could not have won without every player's hard work and excellence.

Final Score: 20–16 to Christ Church.
