Qualifications

BSc Hons (KCL);  DPhil (Oxford)

Academic background

I secured my BSc (first class) in Chemistry from King's College London and completed my DPhil at Oxford in 1998. I was Tutor in Inorganic Chemistry & Extraordinary Junior Research Fellow at The Queen's College, Oxford from 1998 to 2003 and Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry at Jesus College, Oxford from 2001 to 2003. I became a University Lecturer in Chemistry and Official Student and Tutor in Chemistry at Christ Church, Oxford in 2003, being made University Reader in Chemistry in 2008, Dr Lees Reader and Senior Subject Tutor at Christ Church in 2006, and Full Professor of Chemistry in 2015.

Undergraduate teaching

I have more than 25 years' experience of tutoring undergraduate Chemists.

Research interests

My research focuses on functional molecular interfaces, nanoparticles in molecular imaging, electroanalysis, electron transfer, and supramolecular chemistry and diagnostics. I am an academic founder of Osler Diagnostics (named after William Osler, an old member of the House and widely regarded as a founding father of medicine), a company based in the centre of Oxford pioneering the development of state of the art diagnostic technology.
