Christ Church recently acted as host to the International Commission for Anglican-Orthodox Theological Dialogue. This commission, which met from 31 August to 6 September, explored aspects of Christian anthropology: ‘what is a human being?’; ‘the freedom and growth of the human being with particular reference to the understanding of image and likeness’; and ‘human responsibility for the creation; a critical overview of recent statements by our churches’. Participants included the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd and Rt Hon Dr Rowan Williams, who celebrated the Eucharist and preached in the cathedral on Sunday morning. Dr Williams is an Honorary Student and former Canon of Christ Church.

Over twenty children took part in 'Alice Day' activities at Christ Church cathedral on Saturday. The event, part of the Story Museum's Alice day activities throughout Oxford, began with Alice games, and was followed by tea with 'Eat Me' cake and an experience of the story of Alice from the gardens where she played as a child. Cathedral staff led the events, dressed as Alice, the Red Queen and the Mad Hatter.
Other children had the opportunity to make Victoriangames, and the morning concluded with a fancy dress competition, judged by the Archdeacon of Oxford, who declared (in keeping with the Alice story) that everyone was a winner and that everybody should have a prize. For more information about Alice Day, go to http://www.storymuseum.org.uk/the-story-museum/familyevents/alice
