The London Olympics of 2012 saw some very remarkable performances by the athletes of “Team GB” with rowing by no means the least area of overall success. However, the bronze medal in the Men’s Fours was won by the crew from the USA – and thus another Olympian enters the annals of the ChChBC...

At the end of the July 2012, the Cathedral Choir  undertook its first tour to China.  The Choir performed at the most impressive new concert halls in the country, starting in the magnificent National Centre for  the Performing Arts in Beijing on 2 August.  The concert programme took delighted audiences from the 14th to the 21st century, featuring works by Vaughan Williams, Elgar, Brahms, Gershwin, McCartney and Lennon.

150 years ago Lewis Carroll and his friend Robinson Duckworth, together with Alice Liddell and her two sisters, walked down to the river at Folly Bridge and set off on the legendary boating picnic that gave life to the enduring story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. This year on Alice's Day, Saturday 7 July, a colourful flotilla of boats traced the party's original journey up the River Thames towards Godstow in honour of that momentous river trip

Christ Church has been celebrating 2012 in grand style with a series of open air concerts in Tom Quad over this weekend. Thousands of people have come to enjoy the concerts, despite less than perfect British weather!

At the end of May the McDonald Centre for Theology, Ethics and Public Life (a research instritute based at Christ Church in the University of Oxford) hosted one of its most exciting events, and welcomed eleven leading scholars from top universities in the US and UK to study the recent plight of universities.

Hundreds of people from across Oxfordshire gathered in the Cathedral on Saturday afternoon for a special service to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  

Summer Eights took place on the Isis last week, May 23 - 26th 2012, and culminated in a tremendous day down at the river on Saturday, with record numbers of supporters outside the boathouses, encouraged by the wonderful weather.
