Cathedral Christmas Events

The internationally renowned Christ Church Cathedral Choirs are joined by a stellar cast of acclaimed soloists for this performance of Handel’s majestic oratorio, directed by Peter Holder.

A favourite annual event with a combination of pieces that our audiences love, this concert celebrates the magic of Christmas and brings people together for a sensational evening of wonderful music.

The Basilinda Consort take inspiration from Benjamin Britten's blending of different eras and styles in his Ceremony of Carols to present a new repertoire as unfamiliar with modern listeners as Britten's medieval texts were at the piece's premiere.

The Cathedral Singers is Christ Church's auditioned choir of volunteers who sing for the liturgy when the Cathedral Choir is on vacation. They present a selection of favourite Christmas carols and pieces to celebrate the festive season.

The Friends of Christ Church Cathedral raise money to fund the maintenance, restoration, and beautification of the Cathedral. We take the opportunity at this carol service to recognise the work they do to support us, alongside enjoying the traditional music and lessons of Christmas. You don't need to be a member of the Friends to attend - all are warmly invited to come along!
