Chef de Partie

University Scale Grade 4 (currently £29,761 to £33,810 per annum depending on experience)

Permanent, 40 hours per week – variable as per the roster

Summary

Christ Church invites applications for a suitably experienced Chef de Partie to join their kitchen team.

The Chef de Partie plays a vital role in the kitchen team at Christ Church. The post-holder will have experience within a similar environment and have knowledge of all sections of the kitchen to prepare and provide excellent quality dishes using their own initiative. The Chef de Partie is responsible for preparing and cooking dishes in accordance with standard recipes or following the guidance of the Head Chef/ Sous Chefs, and assisting with the development and creativity of new menus as requested by the Head Chef.

SCR (Senior Common Room) Assistant

£13.16 per hour / £13,686.40 per annum

Permanent, part time working 20 hours per week

Senior Scout (Housekeeping)

£13.91 per hour / £21,700 per annum

Permanent, part time working 30 hours per week

Christ Church are seeking a Senior Scout (Housekeeping) with experience of working as a cleaning supervisor or scout (cleaner) with good communication and supervisory skills to join their Housekeeping team to ensure all cleaning is carried out safely and completed to a high standard.

Stipendiary Clerk (alto and tenor)

£13,500 per annum

Part-time, fixed term contract for one year, starting 1 September 2026.

Summary

Christ Church is seeking to appoint talented musicians with experience of singing to a professional standard in a significant ecclesiastical setting to join the Cathedral as a Stipendiary Clerk.

The role of Stipendiary Clerk is ideally suited to an early-career singer seeking to broaden their experience and develop their skills working alongside the permanent music staff in one of the country’s leading choral foundations. The role is often combined with a portfolio of other singing work.

Lay Clerk (alto and tenor)

Stipend of £9,093 per annum plus shared housing

Part-time. 

A Lay Clerk is appointed to hold office in the first instance for a period of two years, of which the first year is probationary. Thereafter the position becomes permanent.

Summary

Christ Church is seeking to appoint talented musicians with considerable experience of singing to a professional standard in a university college chapel, cathedral or other significant ecclesiastical setting to join the Cathedral as a Lay Clerk. 

The Lay Clerks are the permanently employed professional singers who form the core membership of the choir and sing for the Cathedral’s choral services all year round.

Fowler Hamilton Visiting Research Fellowships (September 2027 - July 2028)

Fowler Hamilton Fellowships are offered on a non-stipendiary basis. 

Fixed-term (Applicants may apply for a period of three, six or ten months)

Summary

Applications for Fowler Hamilton Visiting Fellowship are invited from researchers currently living outside the UK, in the Humanities or the Social Sciences, in the period September 2027 - July 2028. Applicants may apply for a period of three, six and or ten months during this period. 

The Fellowships are intended to enable distinguished senior scholars and creative artists to pursue their own research as members of the college, providing an opportunity for academics to benefit from an association, and engage in the academic and social life of Christ Church. 

The Lewis Carroll Visiting Fellowship

Summary

The Lewis Carroll Visiting Fellowship jointly offered with the Bodleian Library to mark the donation of the Michelson Alice to Oxford and of the Jon A. Lindseth Lewis Carroll Collection to Christ Church.

Library Assistant (Graduate Trainee)

£27,534 per annum

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

One-year fixed term contract, starting July/August 2026

Summary

Christ Church seeks to appoint a Library Assistant (Graduate Trainee) on a one-year fixed term contract. 

The role of the Library Assistant (Graduate Trainee) encompasses many facets of library work: front-line reader services; collection management and Special Collections. This fixed-term post is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly college and gain experience working in a large Oxford college library.

In addition to training received in post, the Library Assistant (Graduate Trainee) will also participate in visits and events run by the Bodleian Libraries as part of the Bodleian Libraries Graduate Trainee scheme, which provides the necessary experience for application to a postgraduate course in librarianship or information management.
