Thomas Reginald was the only son of Charles Reginald Dawson of Beckenham, Kent, a tea merchant and importer, and Eleanor Hannah, the youngest daughter of William Spencer Mitchell of Cambridge. He was admitted to Westminster as a King's Scholar on 23 September 1909 and elected to an exhibition at Christ Church in July 1914. Commissioned as a 2nd Lieut., 19th Battalion, London Regiment on 3 October 1914, he went to France on 17 June 1915. 


He died on 4 February 1916 at the Empire Hospital, Vincent Square, Westminster, from wounds he received in action at Loos on 25 Sept 1915.

His name is on Bay 9 or 10 on the Arras Memorial and on the Westminster School Memorial.
